Adaptive Pediatric Wheelchair: Designed to Grow with Your Child

Every wheelchair upgrade is an opportunity to improve comfort and postural support. In this case, the main goal was to achieve greater postural stability, better pressure distribution, and a seating system that better adapts to the child’s current needs and future development.

Today at Gracare, we’re pleased to present a very special delivery: a wheelchair designed to provide a better fit for the child’s current needs while growing alongside them.

The Importance of a Properly Adapted Wheelchair

The previous wheelchair had supported the child through an important stage, but their needs had evolved, making it necessary to incorporate new solutions that would improve positioning, comfort, and everyday well-being.

The main areas we wanted to improve included:

  • Footrests that did not provide proper foot support.
  • A cushion that failed to distribute pressure evenly, creating pressure points.
  • Limited tilt capability, reducing postural comfort.

A New Wheelchair Designed for Greater Comfort and Stability

The new configuration provides a much more personalised fit, incorporating key features that make a real difference in everyday use:

  • Up to 60° of tilt to improve positioning and reduce pressure.
  • A pressure-relieving cushion that distributes weight evenly while providing better pelvic and leg support.
  • A backrest with adjustable lateral supports (height, width, and depth) to improve trunk stability.
  • Footrests with heel cups to promote proper lower limb alignment.
  • Adjustability to accommodate the child’s growth, ensuring long-term use.

Better Adaptation, Better Balance, Better Well-Being

Every detail matters when it comes to mobility and postural support. That’s why, at Gracare, we work to provide solutions that not only meet each person’s current needs but also adapt as they grow and their requirements change over time.
